Three Becomes Infinity is an acrylic 18 x 24 x 1/2 inch abstract painting on gessoboard in my 2023 series, Dreams. This work contemplates a simple tenet of Daoist cosmology: that heaven, earth and humans are metaphysically interconnected. Like the common astrological, “As above, so below,” my painting reflects on the ways in which human works and activities mirror celestial activities (and vice versa).

Another trinitarian relationship is the one between spirit, self and shadow. Stars, the ancestors of earth, constitute all its materiality, including that which is hidden, latent or repressed. Our cosmic origins are evident in nature’s landscapes, formations and minerals. To know where we come from is to know where we must go.

By converging past, present and future learnings, we understand our primordial duty to reproduce the future we wish to see for ourselves, the earth and the stars.
